Updated for Tuesday May 6th
Iowa History is a very large project and will take a lot of hard work to complete. We have three weeks to get it done, so most of our day up until the end of school will be spent with Iowa History.
HERE ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUR IOWA HISTORY NOTEBOOK
Each student will be given a 1" binder to hold all of their material. Students need to get plastic sheet protectors to put into their binders (can purchase a 50 pack at Walmart for $4.00).
Students will be given worksheets that they will put into their notebook. All of the sheets, unless otherwise noted, need to be colored.
ALSO, student will create an ABC notebook (can put in the same notebook). Students will choose one person, landmark, or historic event in Iowa for each letter of the alphabet. Each letter needs to have the topic, a paragraph (7 sentences minimum) about the topic, and a picture relevant to the topic. Please type and print the pictures off if at all possible. If students are not able to have access to a computer, they may handwrite it and illustrate it themselves. Please remember that this is a project that you can keep with you forever. Take pride in your work, and do it in a neat and organized way. PLUS- doing it on a computer not only looks better, but can be easier too! This is in part an online research project. I have listed below some websites that students can use for their research.
Fourth graders will also write down, in class, 10 things they learned in each chapter of our Iowa History book. (We will do this together so this part will NOT BE HARD!!)
Good luck!!
